Our Favourite Christmas Canal Journeys
At Lakeland Leisure Boat Sales we dream of spending our time over Christmas sailing through Britain’s stunning and tranquil waterways. Whilst it might be a bit chilly this time of year, Christmas away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life is a real treat - escape to the countryside and enjoy the peace and quiet that a beautiful stretch of canal can offer, just make sure you pack plenty of wood for the fire. We’ve also had it on good authority that Santa does deliver presents to canal boats, assuming you’re not on the naughty list anyway!
If you do decide to go boating over Christmas, don’t forget to check out this guide on winter boat safety by the Canal & River Trust.
Bingley | Leeds Liverpool Canal
If you fancy a challenge this Christmas, be sure to visit Bingley and the stretch of locks on the Leeds Liverpool Canal, famous as the steepest staircase locks on the longest canal in the country! There’s loads of places to visit along this stretch of canal and plenty of tranquil spots to settle down and moor up in whilst taking in the stunning sights of the wintery Aire Valley.
